The most disturbing part of this article is that it is true that by 2050, white people will be in the minority in America. Disturbing in the fact that unless something radically changes, blacks and hispanics tend to be on the receiving end of our tax dollars and not on the giving end. So we will eventually run out of money and the government will be forced to seize the 401(k)s and other retirement savings that people have saved for themselves so far so that the welfare state can continue. This will put those who have saved in the same boat as those who did not save.

Immigration is part of this but another major reason is that affluent families tend to have less than two children. So they are not even replacing themselves. However, it is not unusual for poorer families (or single mothers) to have several children raised on government money. These children grow up with a sense of entitlement as well as less education and less of a work ethic.

Ronald Reagan's prediction may come true, where there are more people riding in the wagon than pulling the wagon. We still have time to reverse this but there is not much room for error. Demographically, we are heading down a very bad path.
