An armed robbery suspect found out the hard way that holding up a mixed martial arts studio is not an easy target.
Police said shortly after 9 p.m., a man walked into the Defiant MMA & Fitness studio in Burbank and pulled a gun on employees and customers.
An instructor, lightweight MMA fighter Jacobe Powell, knocked the gun out of the suspect's hand and pinned him down until police arrived to take him into custody, authorities said.
The suspect was left bloodied and taken to a local hospital for treatment.

“My instincts kicked in. I used my judo training to go ahead and subdue him and got the weapon away from him before the cops arrived,” Powell said. “One of my guys here who was training called the police, and I just subdued him until the police showed up.”

The other day it was MMA fighter Sergio da Silva who robbed a bank near his home in NYC. Took 50 grand and was apprehended shortly after.
Imagine if these two had been at the same bank!

The video of the subdued perpetrator is priceless. He’s acting like he was,just given a heavy dose of preoperative drugs, escaped from the OR just before they dropped the mask, passed out, and fell down the hospital steps while making his getaway. Appears as though the cops rescued him as well as arresting him.
Don’t worry, due to the provisions in prop 47, prop 57 and AB109. He was released this morning and No Charges will be filed.
Early this afternoon a man filed a Multi Million dollar lawsuit against the owners of the “Defiant MMA Gym” for beating him up without cause while on the premises.
