A quick survey of the Internets shows this is frequent range of underground nuclear explosions. USGS reports the explosion a short while ago was on the surface.

Here is an interesting tidbit: "...a 5-megaton hydrogen bomb, detonated by the United States, and had a body wave magnitude of approximately 6.9 on the Richter scale. Not at NTS, but the Cannikin shot in the Aleutians registered 6, from a 5 MT device at 5000’ depth.
