Should there have been an EMP from this event? Any problems in South Korea/Japan because of an EMP.

That can only happen with upper atmospheric tests. It is caused by the nuke X-rays and other factors interfering with the earth’s magnetic field. Look up “Rainbow Bombs” and “Operation Fishbowl” on YouTube and Wikipedia.

Underground test. No EMP. EMP weapons would be detonated in space high above the target.
