Any volcanologists with comments?

I remember that Pinatubo was proceeded by a 7+ magnitude quake about one year earlier.

They have already come out and said “no concern”. Matter of fact they put the odds of an eruption at 1 to 766,000. I wish they would let me take that bet. Here’s my dollar. More apt to win this than the lottery.

Wonder why this is not the last sentence in the article ——> If it blows, it blows and no man, woman, or child can prevent or predict.

Small earthquakes around fault zones can be a good thing, relieving pressure so as not to have a huge one happen.

Small earthquakes around volcanic activity like at Yellowstone can be a very ominous thing. Lava building up pressure and needing to vent at some point. Think Mt St. Helens.

Soda Springs, ID is about 135 miles from Yellowstone. Seems a fair distance away to me.

Just checked the USGS site and there are 41 now. That is an UGLY cluster of quakes. Wonder what’s going on.

If we would just fix global warming which is the root cause of these swarms it would not be an issue.

Not related to North Korea, the Yellowstone swarm started back in June.

I am more interested in the convergence of ominous warnings God seems to be sending our nation on a daily basis.

- Eclipse
- Hurricane Harvey and Irma possibly on the way
- Yellowstone
- North Korea ICBM (looks like they now possess plutonium weapons spiked with tritium, and the EMP threat is also out there)

God never sends destruction before sending warnings:

Amos 3:7 - For the Lord God does nothing without revealing his secret to his servants the prophets.

Luke 21:25 - And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring

I am VERY concerned these days for our nation.

While the media has the American populace obsessed with "Dreamer Immigrant Rights", "Russia Collusion", "White Nationalism", and other garbage - we could be on the precipice of a disaster coming our way. How much longer can our nation descend into moral depravity before God sends His judgment?

I was reading articles about the Burning Man "festival" in Nevada. The media reported on paganism, orgies, drug abuse, and outright Satanism like it was a picnic. They were not even fazed by what they were reporting.

Pray for our nation.

FWIW, I’ll get worried if things go very, very, quiet.

For now, it’s just Mother Nature adjusting her girdle.

A local volcanologist was very clear that this doesn’t come anywhere close to a pre-eruption warning.

1) No substantial magma shift in either the shallow magma chamber, with lower pressure about 9 miles down, or the much larger deep magma chamber 12 to 28 miles deep.

2) No obvious venting or increase in surface energy release, or volcanic gases killing foliage.

3) About 70,000 years ago, there was a slow, non explosive lava release, and none of that either.

4) Every decade or two, there are earthquake swarms like this, of little concern unless the earthquakes are much stronger.

If and when it blows then the eruption will be just the baby in the bath water. What it does to all the nuclear power plants within range. That will be the real story. They will all be buried in ash and inaccessible. Use your imagination from there.

“Suspicious action from a fairly quiet area.”

Suspicious maybe, but Yellowstone has not been a “quiet area” lately. There have been a number of these swarms of quakes in the Yellowstone area for MONTHS. That, not this individual incidence is what is most suspicious.

I’d be more concerned if all activity stopped.. swarms are Mother Nature’s way of loosing her girdle a bit.. and shifting the load around so to speak.

The 5.3 jostled mytable at Applebee’s in Pocatello at 5:56 PM. Aftershocks all night. Just had another while typing here. Could hear stuff rattling on my shelves.
