Trump must issue a statement comdemining the Uniparty cartel of Obama, Bush and Clinton. The weak and incompetent polices of each of these three cowards have brought this nation to the brink of nuclear war.

Is this "new" or a step back? Seems like we've heard all this before. I think that this was short, direct has ominous meaning. It is restating a red line. Now, will US ignore, redefine, or act when it is crossed?

Maybe the economic route of cutting off business with anyone, including China and India, that do business with North Korea will help? Definitely cheaper in lives risked.

What do you think?

The NorKs are, and will be, a nuclear player from now on. Clinton, Bush 43 and Obama assured it...Clinton especially....Obama sealed the deal.

Then in the next 2-4 years Iran will be. Obama assured that.

Trump issued the real threat earlier - we could consider ending trade with ANY economy that trades with North Korea.

U.S. manufacturers can shift production from China if they need to (for their imports to the U.S.), and China needs its exports to the U.S. far more than the U.S. needs exports to China. China can also get better foreign currency to add to its foreign reserves, selling elsewhere, than what it gets from exports to North Korea.

It would be a tragic mistake to make a limited response to whatever NK does. If we have to move, the goal has to be annihilation of the ruling party and reunification of Korea.

I’m waiting for the old war whore McCain’s statement. He has to wait for Trumps so he can denounce it whatever it is.

Yes. Take him out as at act of war. Of course, if Trump did that he’d be impeached. So, what is the solution? How ‘bout we look the other way while SK takes Kim out.

Basically we’re looking at an old fashioned siege here. Some minimum measures to put in place until N. Korea completely stands down.

No one trades with North Korea. If you trade with North Korea, you do not also trade with the US or our allies.

A full naval blockade of the waters off of North Korea. Any ship that enters will be ordered to turn back. If they refuse, they will be boarded and seized. This includes fishing vessels.

If you have diplomatic relations with North Korea, you do not also have diplomatic relations with the US or our allies.

Put in place a massive multinational military force on the 38th parallel which is paid for by Germany and Japan who are both super rich but are not in a position to contribute militarily in any meaningful way.

Once Kim and his government surrender, North Korea ceases to be and its territory reintegrates with South Korea along the lines of East/West Germany reunification.

Bear in mind when we talk to Fat Boi, we are really talking to China. Have no doubt who controls his every move. The resolution of this mess depends on Trump’s strategy of using economics to convinced China that their national interest would be better served by having a different leader in NK. Once that happens, he’s gone. Not NK, the last thing they want is any greater US presence in their corner of the world. But a different leader who acted in a more rational fashion is about the best outcome we can hope for.

There were never easy answers for this chronic problem which our allies would support. It is hard to blame them, either, if military action results in the devastation of Seoul. Sort of like police shooting suicidal people to stop them from harming themselves...

“We are not looking for the annihilation of North Korea, we have many options,”

I like the way he stated that. I interpret it to mean: "We can annihilate North Korea if we choose to do so, but we also have other options."
