North Korea openly threatens EMP attack for the first time, changing the game

BY ANTHONY FUREY, POSTMEDIA NETWORK

The news Sunday morning that North Korea had launched what appeared to be its sixth nuclear test and most powerful one to date is troubling enough.

But a statement from the rogue regime took things to a whole new level. The North said it had tested an H-bomb that was “a multi-functional thermonuclear nuke with great destructive power which can be detonated at high altitudes for super-powerful EMP (electromagnetic pulse) attack according to strategic goals.”

This is the first time it has publicly mentioned its interest and ability in an EMP attack, a devastating weapon that could have catastrophic consequences for North America, the West and their closer neighbours.

An EMP attack, as I detail in my new book Pulse Attack, is a nuclear detonation that occurs in the atmosphere and creates a waveform that can take down the electrical grid below.

In the worst case scenario, this wouldn’t just shut off the power for minutes or hours, but weeks or even months, due to serious damage to transformer stations and other integral elements of our power infrastructure.

This wouldn’t just mean we couldn’t turn on our laptops and televisions; it would shut down our telecommunications, transportation, water systems, our ability to get food to cities and much more.

There will be no room temperature for the Pig. It will be Pig in a pit turned into a nuclear oven.

"Who is to say that he doesn’t have an extravagant, impenetrable underground bunker with enough accommodation for family and friends?

People in such bunkers need to breathe; that means air vents. It has been claimed that thermobaric weapons can send pressure pulses down said vents and rupture the lungs of all inhabitants.

it works in the movies but do we really have the smartest, best, and most patriotic people in the NSA/FBI/Homeland/CIA/ Pentagon...

hell, we haven't got enough smarts to avoid crashing into huge ships...

its bad folks...

Without the use of nuclear weapons we could bring them to their knees with a first strike.

It's probably the case that without using tactical nukes to neutralize the entrenched North Korean artillery, large numbers of people in Seoul will be killed or injured.

When a person points a gun at you and threatens to shoot you, would you be justified to shoot him if you had the opportunity to do so?

Well, first you have to knock the gun out of the way... no sense in both of you getting shot. That's why we need to first disrupt N Korea's ability to target anyone, then we destroy him. Problem is, our allies are in the bulls-eye of N Korea's aim. So first thing is to get agreement with our allies being aimed at, to knock out the firepower aimed at them so they won't get hit so badly, and then the USA launches the kill shot at N Korean government. Gonna be hard to set this up.

True, we have the reason.
We have the will.
But do we have the “reasoning” to fight the blizzard of snowflakes and the 48% of the world who are John Lennon flower children?

THEY control the message!

We will EMP the Norks first. Their military will be toast. They will be Pigs to the slaughter with the Big Fat Pig turned into a Pig in a pit.

No such thing as EMP as I have been repeatedly told by the resident FR EMP ‘experts’.

“the grid” is only damaged - generators and such - if they are on, not when they are off and their lines are dead.

If they are not “live” the EMP affect has no “electromagnetic” activity to disrupt in a damaging way. It’s the same as “do you need a surge protector if your circuit is off/dead”? No. Any “electromagnetic pulse” will not get passed/into the off/dead circuit.

I think our NatSec planners understand the EMP attack potential and when and if necessary have some options planned.

But would it?
Yes, we know the seemlingly obvious results of the one test in the south Pacific from the 1950-60 above ground atmospheric test, and we know the several “corona” tests above Alaska with ionized particles in a electro-magnetic field, but do we really know just what will happen in a above-ground nuke blast?

Could be we are fearing much from very little.
Could be we are rightfully fearing much from a very insane dictator powered by a very fearful religious fanatic group funding him..

With all due respect, I entirely disagree about the impact of the Chinese. Kim serves at China's pleasure. Don't ever doubt that. If they weren't in control of Kim they NEVER would have let him have nukes. Never. North Korea and China are one and the same, and when China tires of him he is done, without question. By telling China that we see it exactly that way, and that we will retaliate against THEM if they don't control their little pit bull, we reestablish MAD - with China calling the shots for Asia and the Korean Peninsula. If we make this policy absolute clear to China, I absolutely guarantee they will defang Kim.

“If our economy is destroyed, who is going to buy all the Chicom plastic crap?”

That is one of their big problems, but they seem to think they will still be ahead in the long run, if they are left to dominate the rest of the world.

The Russians had a joke about their previous conundrum of depending on the US:

Q: Comrade Commisar, is it possible to build socialism in the USA?

A: Yes! Is possible. But then where would we buy our wheat?

Atomic air burst would give EVERYONE cancer.

No, not true. An atmosphere blast produces the least fallout, and elevates the blast damage furthest away from the ground (away from the cities and stations that can be damaged.)

I can understand the higher up, the more field of view and longer range, but still don’t get why emp wouldn’t of have an effect locally to NKs neighbors when tested not deep but near ground level as they did, if emp is really a threat? Also consider, way up, why cant a bomb wipe out the whole one side of the earth if it is so much of a threat at altitude? Because to view the whole side earth from one vantage point, an orbit really high is needed, and since intensity of radio waves falls off at an exponential rate ( inverse square of the distance) , at some point the emp is too far away. So then why at ground level emp had no effect his weekend and, a bomb Half Way to the moon has no effect, too far away, but a bomb at launch orbit can wipe out the whole US? Who figured that only launch orbits are not too close but not too far? Consider, the EMP damage reported, in Hawaii, decades ago, only a few things were effected, but cheap 1960s transistors were used in those days so ...where is the evidence today ? ... people just keep saying there is a threat ? I’m sure there is some, but how do really we know?

Did not think it was possible on this thread and on this subject~you actually made me smile.

I have learned much from your prepping threads and feel better prepared to handle an EMP attack should the Lord tarry.
