“Your life won’t hardly be interrupted by an EMP burst over the US. Worst case is you reboot your computer”

Still angry with proven physics, I see.

Did you ever read those papers Conrad Longmire wrote that I linked for you?

Apparently not.

“Lightening has far more EMP behind it than a nuclear EMP device. Far more.”

Lightning presents a much different EM signature than a nuclear EMP. So much so that your comparison is irrelevant.

“EVERYTHING would be dead forever. Permanently damaged and beyond repair.”

A lot of stuff will be damaged, but not everything. We simply do not know how much will be damaged, and to what extent - but we know a lot of stuff has the potential to be damaged.

“I do. You don’t.”

We’ve discussed this before, and it’s clear you do not understand the potential for damage of an EMP event.

“Wrong. An EMP cannot do that.”

You’re right about this.....an EMP will not destroy “everything”, but you repeatedly assert it will barely do anything, and that is wrong.

“So, you are saying smart countries like the USA and Russia and China have EMP nukes?? (hint: We don’t. They don’t work the way the Internet nerds like to claim they do.)”

It was well understood that Soviet attack plans included a high-altitude nuclear burst to create an EMP hoping to disrupt command and control.

This is one reason why the military takes this threat very seriously and protects it’s most critical systems against EMP.

“And yes, a well designed EMP device may not be visible.”

There is no way to detonate a nuclear device in the atmosphere and conceal it.

“Not exactly: diesels would still work.”

One of the things that we’ve done to erstwhile reliable diesels is saddle them with all kinds of electronic controls in hopes of making them “cleaner”. These things make modern diesel engines susceptible to EMP, unfortunately.

Thanks bigbob, appreciate you posting the link. I plan to start reading it tonight. Years ago I read a great novel by William Fortschen called “One Second After”, a fictional account of life after an EMP that takes place in semi-rural North Caroline, IIRC. That was an eye opener, as I’m sure this will be as well.

How many older diesels are still in service?

If you have an engine, you can transport, or provide electricity, until the fuel runs out.

And the fuel could be mechanically siphoned out of the non-functioning newer diesels and stranded cars.

Not much, but better than nothing: but the problem is one of prioritization, and whether local politicians will commandeer all such resources for their own personal use.

No, I don’t assert that. That is you fantasizing.

“It was well understood that Soviet attack plans included a high-altitude nuclear burst to create an EMP hoping to disrupt command and control.”

BS. I worked within the nuclear warfare for years. I knew nothing of such a thing. Your statement is just more Internet nerd rumors spread to support your doomsday nonsense.

I bet you’re one of those nerds that has a diesel truck pre-1988 who keeps the computer in his “Faraday cage” microwave.

We’ve discussed it, but you don’t learn a thing. You just repeat Internet rumors.

Tell a lie often enough, and feeble minded nerds will believe it is true.

“Apparently you have never worked with wifi — ever notice that wifi drops out when you talk on your wireless phone?”

If that’s your basic understanding o frequencies, you don’t know much.

Mine doesn’t. Why do you have so many problems for being such as “expert”?

Doctorate in molecular physics. I do.

But you've been trolling these threads for years now with your ignorance.

It's annoying when people keep posting facts and you act like a Democrat in response.

“BS. I worked within the nuclear warfare for years.”

You must have gotten the coffee for the adults. The real warfighters understand this to this day, and that is why our military prepares for it. This point isn’t even arguable.

That won’t stop you from arguing it, I realize.

The morons that believe is global warming have the same illogical excuses you do for believing EMP with wipe out all things electronic and electrical.
