Imagine what our students would be if they cared enough to study ‘hard’ for what they want?
I'd like that. The Depression actually served that purpose, in a way (i.e. it seemed to bring out the best in our country, in many cases). People who are hungry become desperate to find ways out of privation.
At present, most of our students are complacent, to put it mildly.
