I checked other sources and I believe the link is legit. I signed up : name and last 6 of SSN. Site tells you if you were impacted, or not impacted.

I am hesitant to go to that link and check. I think they owe ALL of us who were impacted more than just protection but what good will some kind of free protection do if the info. is already in the wrong hands?

It checks by your last 6 of your SS number and your last name.

I also checked my wife, and it reported that she was not impacted.

I just looked at the link and it was the same one that I used this morning.

Seems to me to be too much of the SSN. IIRC, the last 6 are basically the only unique parts- the first 3 are the state (I know that it should not be necessary to have 3 for state, of signup, but I think thats the way it is.)

Do you think it's safe to give some website the last six digits of your SS number after they already gave out millions of them? I wouldn't even give them the last three.
