Unfortunately, that they died before they hit is wishful thinking. There are any number of clips of people struggling, while falling, right up to the moment of impact. Sky divers, suicides, ejecting pilots, mountain climbers, people who just slipped, from high places.
The human fight to survive is universal and very stubborn.

16 years later. Donald Trump is finally admonishing the governments of Islamic countries to police Islamic activity if they want to be counted part of the civilized world.
There was a documentary being filmed on 9/11 by a the Naudet brothers...
Their camera Crews sprang into action with the fire response and a lot of raw footage was taken in the foyer of the buildings that they were entering to try to help evacuate or to ascertain damage.
There’s one part in the film where you hear this thumping outside and the descriptor given by the documentary film crew was that the sounds were bodies hitting the Plaza from up above.
The documentary was shown on CBS years ago it was stunning footage and really deserves to be broadcast every year on 9/11 in memorial of the tragedy that occurred in New York City that has almost been totally forgotten by the fleeting and fickle memory of the American public.
A choice to die would be the only exception. How monstrously unfair it was would have enraged any who weren’t markedly saintly — and the rest wouldn’t jump.
On that day, and I remember it all too well, could you ever have imagined that 1/2 of this country would be stupid enough to elect a muslim sympathizer (or adherent perhaps) not just once but twice, only 7 and 11 years later?
One that would give $150 billion dollars to Iran?
I would never have believed it possible.

Oddly enough the night of September 11th is also assosicated with the defeat of the Ottoman Muslims at Vienna - although September 12th is the date most commonly used.
Osama most likely picked September 11th simply as 'revenge' for the epoch defeat of the muslim Turks at Malta.
