Ye faithful witnesses, heroes who gave their last measure of love
In Shanksville, Arlington, and in Manhattan
At the Trade Center, ye joined the holy relics
Of Saint Nicholas and Saint Sava the sanctified
In a cloud that showed forth your last devotion
By your example we sing:
O Lord Jesus, be our comfort and strength.

I don’t have any of my posts that old but this one is pertinent:
Encounter by American in Italian Church

I wish some one could send this to all FReepers, not for my vanity but to share my experience with all.On Palm Sunday after a month in Florence,I and my wife entered San Marco, the only church she had not yet dragged me to. A priest greeted us and somehow knew we were Americans. He raised the top part of his garb and flashed an American Flag pin. I opened my jacked and showed him my Flag. I was very touched to say the least. He said he was visiting friends in Tom’s River NJ on 11 September and went in to NY to minister and was horrified by bodies.(I think this is what he said but my Italian and his English were equally poor). We were raised Lutheran. Only my wife attends church. When we left we each got a blessing which included a kiss on the forehead,a first to be sure for either of us. We left Italy Wednesday, the day before the State Dept. warning.
Thanks for posting this.
My wife and I were on the Oregon Coast at a beautiful lodge to celebrate our wedding anniversary. I had woke up first and had the tv on. The first Muslim jihadist plane had crashed into the first tower.
While the announcers and the rest of us were trying figure out was happening, the second Jihadist plane crashed into the second tower. My wife woke up and wondered what the heck I was watching.
I was telling her that we were attacked by two passenger planes. As we watched the horror developed.
We decided to check out and head home. While I went to check out and get gasoline for the trip home, my wife was packing our clothes and had ordered breakfast room service which turned out to be a good move. She called the desk and told them that we would be checking out early due to what happened in NYC.
There was a small lineup for gas at the station. Being Oregone, people were blaming Bush for what had happened.
While I was checking out, some hostile Canadian Lesbos Librarians, who were attending a meeting were blaming Americans for what happened.
Another guest and I told them to shut their GD mouths and go their meeting before we kicked their asses. They did.
While my wife and I were loading our luggage into my OJ Simpson Bronco, a young couple was heading out to play tennis. My wife asked them if they heard what had happened. They said yes, but they were staying and enjoying their vacation.
I asked them if they were from Portland or Eugene, and they said both. I said that figured.
Trip back to California took 2 days with similar happenings and some good ones. All of this has been documented on Free Republic. Our story was minor compared to some of the stories posted on Free Republic.
Please donate to Free Republic as it is a pipeline to current events and to our history being erased by the liberals.
RIP freeper BCM...aka Battlion Chief Mike Moran NYFD. You and other freepers may know him by his brother who was the man who told Hillary to kiss his royal Irish ass at the memorial event.
I will always remember flying about a month after 9/11, Standing in front of the ticket counter early in the morning at sea tac airport.
As I’m standing at the counter I can feel the floor rumbling and shaking because the luggage trams are running beneath the ticket counter.
It is actually shaking me up-and-down and at that exact moment the public address system begins paging “Mike Moran pick up the courtesy phone.”
I got choked up and almost lost it because it felt like God was sending me a message.
The ticket agent was looking at her computer monitor and asked me if I had a seat preference just seconds aftet this.
My reply was related to the fear we all had that 9/11 could happen again which is why I said “wherever I can be of most use.”
She looked up at me, digested that statement while staring at a broad shouldered fit man, and placed me in the first row behind 1st class, on the aisle.
This was before I became a police officer but still had that Do Your Duty mindset.
Rest In Peace BCM and thank you for your service and sacrifice.
Thank you for posting.
How vivid remains the horror and ANGER of that day.
And I recall the attempted PURGE of the disgusting images of people leaping to their deaths, salvaging at the end their dignity in control of their certain demise.
Even now it brings tears....
We cannot allow 9-11 to be forgotten in all its horror and brutality.
I encourage all FReepers to get the word out to any lists they may have.
This is to Sarah's List and a couple of other freepers.
Where were YOU 16 years ago today?
I was 13 years old in 8th Grade, before the era of ubiquitous televisions in Classrooms. I had to wait until 5th hour and history class to see any of it.
Just in time to watch the towers begin to fall.
As for the rest of the day, everyone kept to their usual routine.
I was stunned even then.
I was also worried the terrorists would come and attack schools.
Since that is what I would do, if I was a terrorist.
Randomly attack Schools, McDonalds, Malls, Hospitals, throw grenades in Traffic.
They have no limit to their hate.
Thanks for putting this time capsule up. I will NEVER forget that day and how it unfolded!
Third period English class in high school, year 3, room 101. I didn’t understand what happened that day at that time, but I can never forget the smell. I wasn’t far from Manhattan, and the memory of that will stay with me to my last day.
My post from that morning on Second Tower just went!!! thread.

Rereading the posts that morning is interesting. Some from long gone Freepers. Some were very accurate and others not. I stand by my post that morning to this day but also Praise and Thank God America and turn to him Always and Forever Amen.
Thank you so much for posting this.
I will never forget it...I was a relatively new FReeper and everyone called it. I was reading the thread, after dropping my son off at school, and people ... there are very knowledgeable people here ... were saying, “It’s Al Quaeda.”
