The journalists on MSNBC and CNN on Tuesday continued to be annoyed that Donald Trump hasn’t connected Hurricanes Harvey and Irma to global warming. MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle offered a snide aside in a story on Pope Francis. She began,“ In the wake of Hurricane Irma, Pope Francis is criticizing climate change deniers.”
Going off script, Ruhle mocked the head of Trump’s Environmental Protection Agency: “You hear that, Scott Pruitt?” The co-anchor continued, “Speaking to reporters as he flew over devastated areas in the Caribbean, the Pope warned history will judge the world leaders who do not act.”
Snide MSNBC Uses Pope to Take Shot at Climate Denier Scott Pruitt
While relating the damage from Irma, CNN’s Dave Briggs connected, “That's the second record breaking hurricane in weeks. Climate change back in focus but the White House won't draw a connection between global warming and this outbreak of wild weather.”
On Monday, both ABC and CBS freaked out over a possible connection between the storms and global warming.
During live coverage this weekend, MSNBC hosts fretted that there’s not enough climate change talk. Host Ali Velshi described Irma as the “perfect time” to have a warming discussion.
Transcripts of the two moments on MSNBC and CNN can be found below:

CHRISTINE ROMANS: Florida Keys facing years of rebuilding after a devastating blow from Irma. The damage we see is simply awful. There are areas still inaccessible. Power is out, the roads are impassable. New power outage numbers overnight. We have complete coverage.
DAVE BRIGGS: That's the second record breaking hurricane in weeks. Climate change back in focus but the White House won't draw a connection between global warming and this outbreak of wild weather.
That’s a great post, FW.
For me it’s post of the day. (For us OGs who remember)
I was in Baton Rouge in 65 when Betsy came a calling.
Cat 4.
It was 2 days before the local residents cut their way out to the main roads from the neighborhood we lived in.
Trees were blocking ALL of the roads
Chainsaws, a few gallons of gas and a couple of days work by most all the neighbors handled it. The sooner the roads were cleared the sooner the power was back on.
Food, water and basic medical supplies were gathered at the first indication of the storm.
Most folks actually had common sense and initiative then.
Nowadays, not so much.
I guess “glowbull warming” makes you stupid...
.
What did these same idiots say for the 13 years no major hurricane struck the US?
Or were they busy conjuring up more BS to blame Global Warming for that too??!!
That's almost completely false. There is only the allegation that Irma was cat 5 for a record number of hours. But that record is actually held in the Pacific. There is Irma being a top 5 Atlantic hurricane. Ok, so where's the record? Then there is the pitiful Irma limping on shore allegedly as cat 4. Not even in the top 20 strongest landfalls.
Harvey broke the continental US storm total rainfall records There's that. But Harvey missed a lot of other rainfall records held by previous storms, e.g. the 24 hour record.
I seem to recall their were hurricanes in the past, plenty of them.
Oh, my.
Sacrificing virgins to control weather didn't work out so well. What makes them think that sacrificing freedom and prosperity will have any greater effect on weather?
Also, I would like just one of them to explain the physical basis of the inordinate effect parts per million concentrations of CO2 supposedly has on the weather. If CO2 affects weather, surely the mechanisms of how it does so have been thoroughly investigated by now, haven't they? They should be as straightforward to explain as the principle of lift that allows airplanes to fly, shouldn't they? For all of the supposed scientific documentation of "global warming," there is remarkably little documentation of its mechanisms. Perhaps that is because weather is not a function of CO2 concentration, but of various factors related to solar activity and the distance of the earth from the sun.
