Business owners on one of the Caribbean islands ravaged by Hurricane Irma say the government needs to send in the Marines -- literally -- and increase patrols to combat the thieves and looters running rampant at Sint Maarten's shopping destination.
Elsewhere on the island, men armed with guns and machetes are terrorizing residents and tourists alike, while some wait on piers to steal the bounty of boats and ships carrying aid to the devastated community.

To be fair, a bunch of the areas hit by Sandy weren’t black and the looting and robbing wasn’t done as openly and stupidly, but was done after the first week and for months.
Just because one is smarter about how they go about stealing, doesn’t make it right :)

A retailer who could foresee things would have secured merchandise in a place elsewhere from his brick and mortar business. Alas no. There is a reason when jewelry shops close you no longer see merchandise on display in the windows or the ugly cages surround them.
Ever notice how it is always the same privileged white, born again Baptists who cause the anarchy, violence and crime and all round bad behavior? That’s what those bigots like Maddow on MSNBC says.
But in reality it is almost ALWAYS the same class of people whether in USA, UK, South Africa, or Virgin Islands that are violent. Racism is about despising the common denominator of bad behavior, not race.
I wonder if St Bart is doing any better than St Martin? All they seem to report on Bart is that Pipa Middleton’s inlaws’ Eden Rock resort is both heavily damaged and still standing. Bart is more civilized than St Martin.

And then, ‘Whitey’ will be portrayed again as an, ‘oppressor’ ten minutes after they pack up their tools and Home Depot house-building supplies and food and water and cash.
