Welcome to the world of CenturyLink CenturyStink). Same thing happens to us with them. I hate their commercials about speed; we can only get .7mbs download - no good for anything but texts and slow page loading.

Complain enough and they’ll stop the speed bottleneck and limit bandwidth like Mediacom by booting people off at random.

My folks were paying for 12 Mbps, but only getting 0.5 to 1.5 Mbps. Told them to call Centurylink. The tech came out, noted that something the company had done had interfered with their signal (something about a new filter near the hub for their service). The guy fixed it, and since it was on the company's side of the box, it cost my parents nothing. Call and complain.

If you're paying for more than what you're getting, tell them a little less is reasonable. I know folks who live in the boonies, and have service via Centurylink, they get at least 5 Mpbs, which should be good enough for most anything you need to do, unless you have more than one device streaming at a time. You're only getting about 15% of the base Centurylink plan. That's a lotta bull.

I just shut off sloooow CenturyLink DSL and replaced it with www.freedata.io for 10x faster internet via local Sprint cell phone towers. Cheaper also.
