Steve King: If Reports Correct ‘Trump Base Is Blown Up, Destroyed, Irreparable’
Breitbart ^ | September 13 | Ian Mason

Posted on 09/14/2017 1:59:46 AM PDT by EliRoom8

King tweeted the following after the Associated Press (AP) and other outlets reported that the president told Democrats he wanted a “quick” amnesty for the 800,000 plus illegal aliens he acted to removed protections from on September 5:

Steve King @RealDonaldTrump If AP is correct, Trump base is blown up, destroyed, irreparable, and disillusioned beyond repair. No promise is credible.

King, a long-time immigration hawk, told Breitbart News Washington political editor Matt Boyle that an amnesty move like the one onto which Trump reportedly signed Wednesday was “Republican suicide.” That assessment came just after Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced the administration’s decision to keep a major election campaign promise and phase out President Barack Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) executive order. “It was a clear campaign promise,” King said at the time, referring to an immediate end to the program upon Trump’s taking office.

He buckled.

You're right.

If shouldn't even be in the conversation.

Trump:

“Does anybody really want to throw out good, educated and accomplished young people who have jobs, some serving in the military? Really!.....”

He may not have made a deal, but that is a call for amnesty.

I am very concerned by the direction the Trump admin. seems to be heading. I heard a lot of promises by Trump last year. It seems that many are falling by the wayside.

Sessions seems unlikely to indict the Clinton gang. He seems more interested in arresting marijuana smokers than the many crooks (Lerner, Koskinen, Holder, Lynch) in government. Obamacare is still the law. The Wall is not being built. Many in the MAGA camp have been fired from the administration. Federal law enforcement is as Leftist partisan as it was before. The swamp remains as foul as it ever was. Trump is negotiating with his (& America’s) mortal enemies - The Democrats.

Trump has so far failed to exert the necessary pressure on Congress, especially Republicans, to get MAGA done. Example: Trump has the power to remove Congress’s exemption from Obamacare. This alone, if done, would prompt our self-serving Congressmen, to repeal & replace. Yeah, it would PO a lot in Congress, but Trump wasn’t “hired” to please Congress.

Another example: Sessions could have silenced the Democrat’s personal attacks against Trump months ago by taking the Clinton crimes to a Grand Jury. Instead of months of “Russia collusion”, it could have been a Clinton indictment, which would have terrified all the other many crooks in Washington. As it is now, the Left is emboldened by Session’s obvious refusal to pursue political corruption. Witness Hillary’s crawling out of her hole & back into the limelight.

If this is indicative of the rest of his tenure, I WILL NOT SUPPORT HIS REELECTION.

Credibility is a bit like virginity.

Hard to get back after you give it away.

the thing I see as interesting is that Trump has not (((tweeted)))) anything about this deal. if it was real I am sure he would of commented on it by now... my bet is that he talked with the dems about what was possible if they were willing to make deals but made no deals. Pelosi in her brain addled condition (dementia) leaves the meeting and claims a deal was struck and those at the meeting doubles down thinking maybe they can destroy Trumps base on a imaginary deal that never happened.

"If Trump does approve the immigrants, but builds the wall, then I am aok with that."

Ditto that sentiment. If we accept 800,000 already assimilated English-speaking immigrants to prevent 8MM non-assimilated, non-English speaking illegals, it's a win.

NOW we’re cookin’ with gas! I get particularly irritated when liberals profess to know the thought process of conservatives.

No I don’t think all the never Trumper’s believe that little Limerick at all. They bestow credibility on to Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer. Please show me what either one has done that is worthy of somebody’s Trust.

Surely Trump knew from the beginning that Ryan & McConnell were part of the Swamp leadership. If he was stabbed in the back then he foolishly turned his back to them to allow the stabbing to happen.

Trump needs to put massive pressure on these two. Tweeting is not doing the job. He needs to address the American people on TV, often. He needs to publically state he will actively campaign against all incumbent swamp dwellers, Democrat & Republican, in 2018, starting with dropping his endorsement of the McConnell clone, Luther Strange, in Alabama.

Negotiating with Democrats will not scare Ryan & McConnell, who are perfectly happy with big, corrupt government, as long as they remain in Congress & continue to receive massive government benefits. Wealth & power are their only motivations.

From the outside looking in, Trump hasn’t made nearly enough good deals with Congress. Mostly, he has gotten very little, having offered much too much in return.

“They bestow credibility on to Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer.”

Many in politics and on the Left are willing participants in deception. Among them, only advantage matters. The Left tends to greatly admire their leaders for an excellent ability to deceive.

Among the many good people who are committed to principle however, credibility once lost, is very hard to regain.

I fully understand what you said and also believe it’s correct. However; there is a group of people here on this website which bestow credibility to Pelosi and Schumer just to smear president Trump. That is who my post was aimed at.

Any amnesty must only begin *after* the wall is complete. We all know how previous promises of future enforcement for current amnesty end: we get amnesty but they just never get around to the enforcement.

Build the wall, enforce e-Verify, proper visa tracking, and when all that is complete (not started; complete) then, maybe, we talk about some limited amnesty (permanent guests, no Green Card, no citizenship).

The ideal would be return to pre-1965 immigration numbers and rules along with the wall, enforcement, etc.

Any amnesty is poison; it will quickly grow to include more classes of people and even if the class does not grow the numbers will turn out to be far higher than promised (think Reagan’s amnesty).

DACA was *deferred* action. So that deferral period has ended. The only thing that would put pressure on congress to complete (not start; complete) the wall would be the clock running on DACA (and other) illegal aliens.

Any deal that only includes funding or start on the wall will lead to a cheat whereby future funding is never provided (not canceled, just never funded).

Any deal that refers to border security is also poison. So called ‘high tech’ solutions will be promised that are not really verifiable (in the way a physical barrier is) and would be turned off/defunded it it ever actually worked.

Legislation for the wall has been in place for a number of years.

All we need is a substantial budget approved for border security to make it so.
