NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) The president of Lipscomb University has issued an apology after a centerpiece in his home was deemed offensive by students.
According to a Facebook post, President Randy Lowry invited African-American students to his home for dinner to discuss their experience at the university.
In an email to the Lipscomb community, Lowry said several of the students shared their concern about material used for centerpieces which contained stalks of cotton.
The content of the centerpieces was offensive, and I could have handled the situation with more sensitivity. I sincerely apologize for the discomfort, anger or disappointment we caused and solicit your forgiveness, Lowry wrote in the email.
Lowry ended the email by saying he welcomes the opportunity to continue this conversation.
The neural pathways these students have formed have made them paranoid and completely unable to function in civil society. They spend all their time looking for potential symbols in order to interpret them in a manner they can deem racist, and then hold the “guilty” party or parties for ransom. It’s rent-seeking. That’s all they know how to do. If the day ever comes when no one cares and they’re ignored, they’re going to malfunction and explode like NOMAD on that old Star Trek episode. They won’t be able to process their inability to berate and manipulate for gain.
He is the President of the school? What a sorry reply. Should have told the ‘kids’ to grow up.
Ever time I see words written using the Latin alphabet, I think of the horrible legacy of Roman slavery.
Honestly, I expected there was an inappropriate sexual toy on the table. He should have shown them the door. If they said nothing during the visit, he should have told them their time to complain had passed.
I predict that within the near future all cotton clothing will be banned. Then we will have to wear rayon/nylon clothing. Whoops that means more oil and we can’t have that. So we are left with woolen fabrics. Don’t you just throb over the prospect of seeing your wife/girlfriend in a woolen bikini? But then PETA will enforce various mandates and we all have to go nude. I feel sorry for the people in the north.
I remember someone who got all up in arms because Aaron Neville sang one of those commercials. “How could he DO that?”
These students won’t ever enter the “real” world. They will be offered jobs for which they are otherwise not qualified, in order to fill quotas.
I guess he learned his lesson about inviting Blacks into his house for a meal. Let’s see if he is smart enough to not repeat that mistake.
Stalks of cotton?
This sort of thing had already gone too far 20 years ago. It’s insane. The left is obsessed with eliminating Whites and/or Christians, after taking all their money.
I just bought some cotton at the drugstore. The Black clerk didn’t accuse me of racism.
That's what I was thinking. They best not wear any cotton clothing. What snow flakes.
Looks like about 7% of the students there are Negro. I wonder if he has had a proportional number of white students over for dinner (about 76%). If he has had 20 Blacks, he needs to have 200 whites.
I would have simply asked them how many had had to pick cotton as slaves and then told them to get a grip on their racial hysteria.
Those cotton balls are white. Isn’t that kind of racist? /s
“oh for gawd sake, this dude is a moron.”

I agree-——he shouldn’t even be in a leadership position.
.
If he apologized for a centerpiece he ism’t presidental material. If you were hurt or affended by a centerpiece you should be undergoing psychological evaluation.
Another BS WHINER, AND A DWEEB WEAKLING GIVING INTO THEM. JUST EMPOWERS THEM. What is going to offed them next, it could even be baby formula’s color.
Does that mean cotton clothing is now offensive? And PETA doesn’t like wool or leather. Are we doomed to polyester?
Cotton is now “insensitive”?
Hell, I picked cotton. On a one-row, International Harvester self-propelled cotton picker, proceeding through the field, plucking the ripened bolls of cotton and catching them all in a large bin behind the operator. The process of picking by hand is largely abandoned, except for the poorest of small sharecroppers, if any still exist.
The Depression years of the 1930’s are over.
I remember singing that song, too, when I was in elementary school on Long Island, NY. (MANY years ago)
“Gonna jump down turn around pick a bale of cotton.
Gonna jump down turn around pick a bale today.
Cotton needs pickin’, so-oo bad....”
That’s all the words I remember.
