Hi NN. My phone cut off just after I saw this post. Horrifying. That’s when I told my family to move to our safe room. After that no more communications until this morning, when I opened the office fired everything up and we had phones and internet! All in a backup power generator. Buy Generac stock!

My home is fine. Just a lot of outside damage. But everyone I know is okay except for a couple of retired National Guard friends in the flooded community of Levittown who I haven’t heard from.

Quick story. My grandson asked me why did the storm come if we prayed so much. A little lapse in faith. I told him that we prayed to be protected from the storm and that we would be safe. Well, here we are. Oh, okay. Thank you Jesus, he said.

Thank you for all the updates.

God bless you—and thank you for your amazing local info. AWESOME that you have internet and phones. Hehehe...have been looking at Generacs over the past few days myself.

Turks and Caicos may wind up getting the eye of both Irma and Maria.

IIRC, utility crews from Canada were on our street. God bless them.

Hydro Quebec was the utility crew that gave us back our lights (and heat and water!) back during the horrible Ice Storm of December 1973 in Connecticut. Their trucks were all over our area (East Hartford/Glastonbury).

Years later, my husband and I were traveling in French Canada (Montreal, Quebec City, etc.). Saw a Hydro Quebec utility truck, still with the same logo as in 1973. I literally teared up, remembering how they brought us out of the cold and darkness back in '73, just a couple of days before Christmas.

It was a wonderful, friendly Ohio utility crew that restored our power after the freak October 2011 snowstorm here in north central CT.

Yes, God bless them all! :-)

From Irma? It’s possible, we had a lot of random power outages. The wind was the worst on the NE side of the metro. Cumming had some interstate signs blown off. I’ll be down in the Mableton area early next week, can find out whats up then.

Heard from Dad... His 19th floor and 17th floor apartment suffered very minor damage - almost not noticeable - mostly cosmetic. He lives 200 feet away from and facing the Atlantic Ocean. No power; no elevators.

Mom is fine - rested & ready to clean up her apt. She will be helping her neighbors in need. San Juan Mayor does not expect water to come back for 4 months or so in some places.

I don’t know about Mableton. I live in downtown Atlanta and we were without power for a day and a half. Other people were without power for a few hours. A million were without power across the whole state.

Stabilize the population, find funding, get the river of materials flowing past the craftsmen and up into code compliant building shells, cap any looters that jam up the works.

The real trick is getting the locals to wait on water and food till the roads are opened back up. That’s where the helo carrierS come in, but I’m not sure if these small islands actually have those, as opposed to just their basic fleet of Nimitz class units.

Runway seems to be servicable for twins, but he didn’t go very far, so they probably need gas.

Pardon, please. Asking are you in Puerto Rico? Beautiful land and wonderful people. Traveled to Vieques years ago and fortunate to experience the magnificent Phosphorescent Bay. Given the horrendous episode you’ve experienced, do you know what, if any damage was done to the location? Hopefully, it will still be twinkling/shimmering in the future to come. There is also a web site with Vieques ties. This, of course might be located elsewhere but did check the URL and it seems to be working with no mention whatsoever the damage which must have been suffered this past week.

Our prayers are with the Island people. We in Texas seemed to have weathered our storm to some degree.
