Why didn't you have him institutionalized instead of sending him away to be someone else's problem, you dingbat? Involuntary institutionalization is very difficult to obtain.

Yup. My great aunt went over the edge from paranoid schizophrenic forty years ago, her daughter cannot let her know where she lives for fear of her life and still a judge will not put her in a institution.....
