A federal agent who had been scrutinized for his handling of rare evidence and his behavior at the counterculture Burning Man festival is no longer an employee of the Bureau of Land Management, authorities said Friday.
Daniel Love, who played a command role in federal agents' 2014 standoff with Nevada rancher and states' rights figure Cliven Bundy, no longer works for the agency.
....
Love still worked for the agency on Aug. 24, when a federal investigative report was released saying he handed out valuable stones known as moqui marbles to colleagues and a contractor "like candy,".
The rocks are unique geological formations of iron oxide that form in sedimentary rock, and the agency was holding them as evidence in an investigation into whether they were illegally collected from an unnamed national park, according to an Interior Department report.
It also found that Love told an employee to delete emails that contained bureau information requested last year by then-Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah.
Another report released in January faulted Love for using his role overseeing security at the Burning Man festival in Nevada's Black Rock Desert to buy otherwise unavailable, sold-out tickets and having agents drive around his family during the Nevada event in 2015, as well as manipulating a job search for a friend.
The Bundy cattle roundup pitted weapon-toting Bundy supporters against heavily armed BLM agents who, in the end, gave up efforts to collect Bundy cattle for nonpayment of grazing fees.

He was sued over the artifacts raid by family of a doctor, James Redd, who killed himself after he was arrested.

He could do that because they’re not particularly valuable, except for some of the more perfectly round and dark ones, and they’re as common as candy.
In before the “government agents are always right” folks.
The ones he handed out were being held as evidence.
I’ve been picking these up for years on the ranch, Iron Oxide coated sandstone. Never knew they had any value, I put them in my flower beds. Just did a little checking and those in the 2 1/2 to 3 inch size sell for 20 to 30 dollars apiece. We used to use the smaller marble size in out sling shots.
Better go find those used in your slingshot! ;)
I’m pretty safe, this is on the ranch in Texas.
DEA, FBI, ATF, BLM.....when combined, and are abusing
power and the law (as they see it), it means DIE for the
Right.
This is the agent that should have been taken out back and executed YEARS AGO.
At the very least he needs to be prosecuted and sent to prison.
His civil rights violations alone could send him to prison for life.
Handing out little rocks is the least of his worries. He has destroyed lives. I put him in the same category as Lon Horiuchi.
Maybe the Bundy’s need to bring civil charges against him now. Its the only way they will ever get him on the witness stand. The Feds will probly never let him be cross examined in court.
Day late, dollar short. Still good.
Hate these article titles that get ones hopes up.
Thought Danny boy had got a burning man probe while in prison.
Oh well, it ain’t over yet.
“I put him in the same category as Lon Horiuchi.”
Exactly right! Watching that SOB striding around, with his “assault” rifle, his ball cap on backwards like some ghetto punk, why, the hair on my back was standing up like I was a Rhodesian Ridgeback!
He’s nothing but a common dog dropping. Ditto for Lon, the assassin.
