Complete Headline: EXCLUSIVE: Case dismissed! Max Kennedy gets away with a $150 fine after 'glassy-eyed' son of RFK was arrested at his out-of-control party at the family's Hyannis Port compound where he barked at police 'You don't know who you're messing with'

Matthew 'Max' Kennedy was all smiles on Tuesday as he walked out of a Cape Cod courtroom in a gray suit and Prada shoes after criminal charges were dismissed against him following his arrest last month for a booze-fueled brawl with local police.

Prosecutors recommended to the court that disorderly conduct charges be dismissed if the son of Robert F Kennedy admitted he was 'responsible' for a noise violation at a rental house near the Kennedy compound on August 20.

The 52-year-old paid a $150 fine in Barnstable District Court wearing a trim suit with a blue tie and sporting a neat haircut, in direct contrast to the disheveled white mop he sported in his mugshot.

It’s redundant.

Could be worse. I wouldn’t have been surprised if they made the Police pay Kennedy a few million bucks for inconveniencing him, a member of the Royalty.

(CNN)Illinois businessman Chris Kennedy, the son of Sen. Robert F. Kennedy and nephew of US President John F. Kennedy, announced Wednesday that he will join the state’s Democratic race for governor.

Kennedy, 53, hopes to take on Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner in what’s expected to be a contentious — and expensive — race. Rauner’s first term has been dominated by a growing budget crisis and conflict with a Democratic-controlled Legislature.
“I’m running for governor because this state is headed in the wrong direction,” Kennedy said in a YouTube video announcing his candidacy for the 2018 election.

I had ta scroll back up a little (not really) when I saw the shoes comment. Who but a woman gives a flip about what shoes someone is wearing? (There's a Seinfeld episode in there, ya know.)

Besides, Kennedy's acting like Kennedy's. There's a hot news item. **yawn** d;^)

To be upfront, I'm sticking up for Max. I was raised to despise Kennedys, and for the most part, that has stuck with me.

But I went to law school with Max. When I saw he was in my section, I kind of rolled my eyes and waited for him to start acting like his Uncle Ted.

Never happened. Max wasn't a great student (being charitable here), but he was one of the nicest, most genuine guys there. No ego, no whoring around -- though plenty of women threw themselves at him. He stayed faithful to his out of town girlfriend/fiancée. Not a hint of scandal or drama about him, ever. He married her before our 3rd year, and has been married to her for over 25 years.

When my reserve unit got called up for the Gulf War, and I had to leave school before the semester was over, it was Max who reserved a restaurant for my going away party, and picked up the tab. He was genuinely concerned/worried, and told me that if myself or any of my Marines needed anything, to call or send him a letter and he would see what he could do. Also gave me a copy of The Killer Angels for reading during down time. In all honestly, other than my roommate and a female, Max showed more concern than anyone else in my class that I was going off to war. He was named after a general, and was actually very pro-military.

I lifted weights with him a few times, and I recall very vividly once when he talked about his dad. It struck me for the first time, at that moment, that he was a guy who had lost his dad when he was only 3 years old. That cannot have been easy.

Anyway, it's easy to mock him. But if anyone chooses to do a google search, I think you'll find a remarkable lack of scandal about him. No womanizing, no drunk in public, nothing. I'm not judging a guy for getting a bit blasted at his own house and getting lippy with cops. It's not a good look, but I've got a few friends who have had similar escapades. It's not the end of the world.

Anyway, I expect to get blasted. But I felt obligated to stick up for a good guy who once stood by me during a very serious time.

Not sure what the usual fine in the area is.

This may not be as out of line as some of us (including me) think.

I would toss the book at him for making the police take him into custody.

That alone should cost him ten weekends in jail IMO.

If you’re party is pushing the limits, officers need to approach you and ask you to tone it down. When they do, you should be reasoned and comply.\

Neighbors have rights too.

Thank you for sharing that. I guess it’s easy to jump to conclusions that may be incorrect without knowing the facts.

I don’t object to nice comments about the guy. I appreciate you mentioning the things you did.

I don’t know the guy, but I do think he was wrong here.

We all lose it at times. He screwed up here IMO.

What do you expect from these defective people? Their fortune was made by Bootlegging, none of them can handle their liqueur and there are a few mental illness genes running around in their DNA. They think they are royalty but they are nothing more than New England white trash that inexplicably have gotten away with murder, rape, organized crime and treason among other felonies for over a hundred years.

Oh sure, he screwed up. I wouldn't deny that. I just felt compelled to say something in response to some of the comments here, saying things like "all Kennedys are alike", etc..

Some folks tried to draft him into politics, and it didn't go well. He's not applying to NASA, but he also lacked the smarmy guile/cunning he'd have needed to be a good politician. And I mean that in a good way.

Somewhat shockingly, he actually wrote a very fine, well-reviewed book about his father's journal, speeches, and favorite quotations. It kind of emphasizes to me how much he really must have missed having a father growing up.

I felt like an absolute jerk for prejudging a guy I'd never met. It was really clear to me that he thought about his father a lot. Very sad.

I remember reading a story in Newsweek or something about 20 years ago about the younger generation of Kennedys, including him. He was mentioned at the end as being the one who seemed to really dislike the spotlight. There was a quote from him sarcastically referring to "the glory" of being part of the clan and in the public eye. He just wanted a normal life.

Honestly hope things are otherwise going well for him. Truly one of the nicest people I've ever met, and I say that as someone who has told more than my shared of Kennedy jokes. My personal favorite, from Jay Leno:

"It looks like Ted Kennedy has the nomination sewed up in his pocket (pats his front pants pocket). Now if he can just find his pants."
