The weapon is legit, though I’m not sure there are photos of it. I saw one news report that said he had a stubby AK with a 100 round drum mag.
Edit: There is a video which shows his AK pistol (basically an AK Rifle without a stock) in his police cruiser back seat. It has a drum magazine. Apparently he was busted for carrying it in his car but he said he valued his personal safety over a stupid rule against carrying personal weapons. So, at the end of the day he was reprimanded for carrying this personal weapon, but not for using it when his life was in danger.
