“Trump has offered amnesty to the 800,000 or so dreamers.”
No, he has not.
Not even close.
Perhaps not directly, however, that is what he is suggesting. However, he is leaving it up to Congress to make the determination and they have 6 months in which to act. Of course I think like the rest of us, he has lost faith in Congress being able to get anything done. So deportation will kick into affect, because he knows that only Congress can make laws regarding immigration. Therefore as President he is only following the power as set forth in the Constitution, and obeying the law as set forth by Congress.
Excellent post, spot-on.
<< It might even be worth giving up the wall. >>
Not a chance.
Nothing is worth giving up the wall.
This is crap. Give up the wall? WTH?
The only "dreamers" President Trump offered anything to is the dreamers who think that Congress can agree on actual legislation that legalizes a sub-set of illegals. He didn't even guarantee he would sign whatever comes out of Congress on this, because unlike some people in Washington, I would expect President Trump to actually read and understand the document before he signs it. (Hopefully he will NOT rely on Ivanka and Jared to read it out loud to him instead of reading it himself.)
Perhaps not directly, however, that is what he is suggesting.

Trump said “there will be no amnesty.” I choose to believe his very direct statement.
Correct-and only IF for no other reason than the fact that he ran for office and succeeded on that promise.
I think this guy downloaded my brain and dumped it in this article. He even has my attitude about the wall. And he’s right about why trump is so much fun.
And he can keep his word too. Either Congress declares that they are natural born citizens, but just the dreamers mind you, not the parents or any other relatives, or they do nothing & their deportations begin. See how that works? No amnesty, Congress claims them to be citizens. Congress holds the power when it comes to immigration, as spelled out in the Constitution. Trump is working within the framework of the Constitution. So you should indeed take him at his word, and his word he will keep. But also realize the subtleties President Trump always put into play as well.
This author is a semu-clever little weasel.
Sigh. Trump has not “offered amnesty” to anyone. He said, “you want a law, write a law.”
My guess is he knows they can’t/won’t.
This has been my thinking all along.
Unless Congress passes a DACA law, DACA is gone.
