Imagine you live in a county with two clinics and four hospitals within a 30-minute drive. The clinics will look upon their offerings and just say that they will offer simple basic medical care. If you need x-rays or anything beyond the basics...they won’t provide it.
The four hospitals? At least two of them will convert to an lesser option program. If you need special surgery, you will likely be driving at least 90 minutes in the region to find that capacity.
All of us will start to look at quality care and realize that you can only reach that level that you were used to in 1980s/1990s....by driving the extra distance. It’ll seem cheaper but no one will be happy over the way that our lives are impacted.
