Germanys Social Democrats said Sunday they will not continue governing in a grand coalition with Angela Merkels conservatives after projections showed they had scored their worst general election result in post-war history.

“with Angela Merkels conservatives”
Zero chance that Merkel’s CDU crowd will agree to any AfD coalition deal.
Oddly, with the Green and FDP deal....you can figure each party demanding minimum of two minister positions.
'Merkel is insane'... a half hour in her company exposed a firebrand who doesn't hide her disdain for Chancellor Angela Merkel.
Just to be sure, I didn’t say Merkel would agree to the AfD being in the coalition. I said the AfD could announce that it would support a minority center-right government. Even if Merkel (ultimately) rejects the offer, the offer gives her bargaining power.
As it is, Germany has done a lot to go green, including decommissioning its nuclear power plants, subsidizing wind and solar, and announcing a future date to phase out fossil fuel cars. What else could the Greens demand? If the Greens are reasonable, and they should be, it will be a Jamaica Coalition.
So the Communists have 118 seats, the leftwing Socialists have 138 seats, the moderate Socialists have 218 seats, the moderates have 70 seats, and the nationalists just have 87 according to projections.
Is that really how you view them?
Did I crush your heart?
Perhaps you should use your numbers on the next Powerball. Given the system Germany has, it’s a little tricky to go from percent of the vote to seats. There’s no need to worry about that at this time.
Current projections (Seats, for those who don’t know the difference between percentages and seats):
The Communists have 131 seats, the leftwing Socialists have 149 seats, the moderate Socialists have 239 seats, the moderates have 77 seats, and the nationalists just have 94 according to projections.
(Hint, percentages will never go over 100 except fractionally for rounding.)
So essentially Germany is nothing but a bunch of bolsheviks.
Or, you can do your own calculations. This might help:
Pretty much. The head of the CDU used to be in charge of agit-prop for her Communist University group in East Germany. The party itself probably aligns best with the moderate Democrats here. The Christian Social Union is a little more conservative, but doesn’t have the guts to declare independence from the CDU. The FDP pretty much aligns with establishment Republicans here, and the AfD are libertarian nationalists. Then you have the left wing socialists (Socialist Party of Germany) which aligns with the left wing of the Democrat party here, and to the left of them, Die Linke (the old East German Communist Party) and die Grüne (the left wing Greens in the Gore/Kerry tradition).
You need to get them to fix their labels. They’re using labels like “FDP” and don’t know the actual parties are the Bolcheviks, the Menchiviks, the Trotskyites, the Radical Left or whatever it is you’re calling them.
These people, too, you’ve got to learn them a thing or two:

“...Germany is nothing but a bunch of bolsheviks....”
Remember the invading Russians (bolsheviks) in 1945 raped almost every female between 8 and 80 and continued impregnating German women during the long occupation of East Germany.
Is it unreasonable to believe a high percentage of the offspring in the East would lean toward Lenin??
Interesting result.
Merkel and the SPD both lost about 1/5 of their vote shares.
AFD nearly trebles their support and enters Parliament
FDP more than doubles it’s support and reenters Parliament
Greens and Commies each gain slightly.
Consistent with polling but Merkel did a little worse, low 30’s instead of mid.
