I watched him make this comment and was amazed he would take such a position. Here’s a guy who depends on viewership for his livelihood, and he just told at least 70% of his audience they’re WRONG and should “apologize” for their sentiments. Again, this is akin to leftist college presidents who antagonize half their alumni for the sake of virtue signalling. And they don’t even care about the consequences.

... because often, unfortunately, there are no consequences. They are insulated by several levels of protection the most significant of these being the left-wing media.
I believe that most if not all of the left’s dialog would disappear if they had to say it to someone’s face instead of hiding behind a keyboard. It is easy to be brave when no one knows who you are.
