the panic is starting to sink in....i saw Pete Carroll on CNN...he was tap dancing like crazy, try to find a way out of this...and Anderson Cooper was letting him babble on.....trust me, he looked scared s@##tless..

Yes. Amazing, isn't it? We're only two days after the weekend in question and the response in every social medium I've been on has been absolutely volcanic. The players, the coaches, the owners - all of these people and their families are as dialed-in to the Internet as any of us, and they don't need some market-research statistician to tell them there's a problem here. They know it.
What to do about it, aye, there's the rub. The message they sent was that political correctness and team solidarity get priority over being an American, whether that's the message they intended (and for some of them, it was) or not. That can't be walked back. It can't be spun away, it can't even be apologized for, it's a fact and we all just got our noses rubbed in it. It's going to take more than a weekend of pretense to change that indelible impression.
These leagues decided years ago to pander to patriotic fans by opening with the Anthem. Can’t have it both ways. They need to issue a massive apology and start firing the non-compliant or they’re dead as an industry...
