Elementary school librarian rejects books given by Melania Trump

A Cambridge, Mass., elementary school librarian said in a blog post this her school will not be keeping a collection of books from Melania Trump, though the school later denied her rejection of the gift.
Earlier this month, the first lady sent out collections of 10 Dr. Seuss books to one school in each state to mark National Read a Book Day.
In a letter published on the Horn Book's Family Reading blog, Cambridgeport Elementary School librarian Liz Phipps Soeiro said that her school wasn't in need of the books, which included famous titles such as "The Cat in the Hat."
"I work in a district that has plenty of resources, which contributes directly to 'excellence,'" she wrote. "My students have access to a school library with over nine thousand volumes and a librarian with a graduate degree in library science."
Instead, she wrote, the White House should worry more about providing support to schools that are underfunded and subject to government neglect.
"Why not go out of your way to gift books to underfunded and underprivileged communities that continue to be marginalized and maligned by policies put in place by Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos?" she wrote.
According to CBS Boston, Cambridge Public Schools said in a statement that Phipps Soeiro "was not authorized to accept or reject donated books on behalf of the school or school district" and counseled her on a policy against using public resources for political purposes.
But Phipps Soeiro said the books were "a bit of a cliche, a tired and worn ambassador for children’s literature."

Cambridge, Assachusetts...I’m shocked. No, really. Reason #332 why my wife and I never crossed into Assachusetts while ‘living’ in soviet Red Hampshire.
Kids even in grade school should be past “Cat in the Hat” and “One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish” and “Green Eggs and Ham”. I would fault whoever recommended these books for Mrs. Trump to give. And I would also agree with the librarian that a better job should have been done selecting schools who were in the most need of books for their students.
I’m so damn tired of these resisters. Can’t even respect the First Lady. Disgraceful.

Stupid people, those with more money than sense, have been buying those pre-ripped jeans for around thirty years.
Some of the priciest used to come with a “certificate of authenticity” that assured the buyer that the shredded threads had been worn by a Montana cowboy, a WV coal miner or whatever.

I did a quick web search and the Cambridgeport Elementary School, like most grade schools, includes kindergarten. Their school library catalog is online and I found Dr. Seuss books already on the shelves there.

Those books are fun and not below the level of many elementary students to read on their own.
Why couldn’t she accept the books, and, recognizing there are others more in need, donate to those in need?
Or keep the books donated, and pull duplicate excess from her shelves and donate.
Lots of ways of going about this.
