I think you are. You’re basically saying, no matter what he does he’s wrong. And if he didn’t make some kind of statement, the media would hound him.
He’s been asked about it incessantly, so I don’t blame him to addressing it head-on.
In this case, I think others were bringing it to him. He spoke up to lay any rumors to rest, and did so by standing up for both the country and for himself.
I’m okay with his approach, although I disagree that others who kneel during the anthem are taking an acceptable action.
