The Oakland Raiders will be without quarterback Derek Carr as he suffered a transverse process fracture in his back Sunday.
Raiders coach Jack Del Rio said Carr's injury "could be as short as two weeks -- it could be longer." Del Rio added that Carr could be out as many as six weeks.
Carr was injured on a sack late in the third quarter of Oakland's 16-10 loss at the Denver Broncos on Sunday and did not return to the game.
After being twisted down awkwardly by Adam Gotsis, Carr grabbed at his lower back and stayed prone on the ground. After several minutes, he was helped up and walked slowly off the field. After being examined in the blue pop-up tent on the Raiders' sideline, he walked back to the Raiders locker room.
Transverse processes are small projections on the vertebrae where soft tissue attaches, but they have no real role in load-bearing. In football, fractures to transverse processes are not uncommon when there is a direct hit, like a helmet or knee to the back, resulting in bruising and pain at the fracture site.

Who could possibly care?
It took America a while to recognize the existence of Fake News. They will probably figure out the reality of Fake Sports a lot faster.
The leftist idiot Goodell has ruined the NFL on so many levels.
Transverse process? Is that a reversal of gender reassignment surgery? And then he broke it?
Carr is a good quarterback, the Raiders will be in a lot of problems for the next two-three weeks.
May there really be Karma in the universe.
When your O Line doesn’t protect you
that’ll teach him!
And how long to recognize Fake Sports News?
The Raiders lost because they aren't very good.
Is there any proof that they did that? I don’t believe it.
It could be that he simply couldn’t play with the team any longer,
since they refused to support him (the only man to stand for the anthem).
Hence, an “arranged” absence of a few weeks.
That’s the first thing I thought of too...
A botched surgery in the news.
Can you imagine the suit against the League, the Raiders, and the individual team members !! Get ready for some REAL fireworks.

Is that like a skinned knee from being surprised by the National anthem?
“Carr is a good quarterback, the Raiders will be in a lot of problems for the next two-three weeks.”
yeah, Carr did NOT deserve this! But F the Raiders!
Derick Carr is the quarterback who refused to kneel for the anthem;
the rest of the team allegedly (by rumor) decided that if he wanted to “stand”, he could stand alone on the field.
Hence, the linemen refused to protect him, and he got sacked four times in one game. He appeared to have the ball hiked to him three times when he was not ready; and players kept dropping passes.
That kind of response has major repercussions for the team, and for the NFL; and it is possible that it was thought the better part of valor to
separate him and the team for awhile.
Which raises more issues...
Big deal. He’ll be one less who won’t be watched.
It needs to be investigated.
