Only three Democrats joined Republicans to vote for the Pain-Capable Unborn Protection Act Tuesday evening, a bill that will now be sent to the Senate.
The bill states that no unborn baby past 20 weeks gestation can be aborted, except in cases of rape, incest, or to save the life of the mother. Abortion providers that violate the law will be penalized and could be sentenced to five years in prison.
Illinois Rep. Daniel Lipinski, from the 3rd Congressional District of Illinois and cosponsor of the bill, voted yes on passage of the 20-week abortion ban. Texas Rep. Henry Cuellar and Minnesota Rep. Collin Peterson also joined Lipinski in favor of the bill.
Before the vote, representatives engaged in heated debate over the bill. Allowing unborn babies to be aborted after 20 weeks violates our most enduring values, Illinois Rep. Randy Hultgren said on the House floor. Unborn babies are not just a blob of tissue, Alabama Rep. Robert Aderholt added.
Rep. Gwen Moore of Wisconsin disagreed with the bill, calling it unconstitutional and a cruel and ruthless attempt to undermine women.
The bill had will now head to the Senate, where it must get 60 votes to become law.
Is it just me, or is there something wrong with that?
The beloved filibuster...
Personally, I'd love to see them change the Senate rules that a filibuster must actually have people filibustering.
Why not 51 votes? Protecting PLANNED PARENTHOOD?
I think that it may be that 60 votes are required to overcome the pseudo-filibuster whenever Republicans are advancing legislation. Democrats only need 51 votes. I think those are the present rules in the Republic, which we don’t seem to have kept (I’m sorry, Mr. Adams).
My rat of course voted for the death of children then made a video callng for gun control to prevent death. I called him out for the hypocrisy.
Whatever. It’s today’s show.
Honestly, I don’t think the Supreme Court would let this stand anyway, due to the (invented) Constitutional right to a free, no-effort abortion at any time in pregnancy for any reason. However, it’s just crazy that we can’t pass any legislation without a supermajority.
Dan Lipinski suceeded his father William O for that seat on the southwest side of Chicago.Much of that old district was quite conservative with Reagan carrying several wards . Since Dan has taken his fathers’s seat that district has been cut up and handed over to Guitierez. And Dan will be facing very stiff opposition from suburban libs.

Our beloved Alaskan senator murky will vote it down. She lives to exterminate every unborn child that might cause an inconvenience to their mother.
It is suppose to be 51 votes to become law.
If you want to filibuster a bill then put on your diapers, grab your gargle and bring the twenty volume set of the Oxford English Dictionary.
Dems are going to crucify those three that voted for it.
I’m surprised that three did. Good for them.
I am against abortion. I don’t know how anyone can claim they are prolife and be for abortion. When two people have intercourse without protection or the use of contraceptives, they should already know the consequence. It is not the baby/embryo/fetus’ fault it existed. The mother should take responsibility in caring for that baby at least until she gives birth and she can put the baby up for adoption.
The other Democrats are deranged...
“Protection” doesn’t guarantee a non-pregnancy.
Three facets to the Butchers’ position: 1) sex at the expense of life, 2) minority control, 3) population control.
It would help if people would stop seeing babies as an annoying and unwelcome byproduct of sex.
