Paul Nehlen, the America First conservative who is challenging House Speaker Paul Ryan in the 2018 primaries, was stonewalled and banned from a massive GOP event in his district over the weekend — and for the scrappy pro-Trump challenger, this means war.
Nehlen, for those unfamiliar, was the insurgent candidate who in 2016 helped to stop the Trans Pacific Partnership trade deal by getting chief cheerleader Ryan to go live on CNN and tell Manu Raju that the deal was poorly negotiated. Nehlen is challenging Paul Ryan for a second time, in an attempt to finally put a stop to the speaker’s relentless obstruction of the Trump administration.
Over the weekend, the Wisconsin Republican Party, desperate to protect their political elite, banned Nehlen from attending the 1st District Fall Fest, a popular GOP event that Ryan was speaking at. To make the ban even more egregious, in attempt to not make a fuss after the party failed to invite him, Nehlen purchased gold-tier tickets to the event himself — and encouraged his friends and supporters to do the same.
Kim Travis, the district chair, emailed Nehlen after he purchased the tickets saying that he would be refunded and was not welcome to attend.
“Thank you for your interest in the 1st District Fall Fest. Respectfully, we are declining your request to attend the event. We will return your payment. We stand by our policy of being able to decline requests in order to manage and deliver the best experience for all our guests,” Travis wrote in her email to Nehlen.

Party politics a bit skewed toward current office holders. Don’t know if Nehlen can be a credible candidate second time around but shame on party for locking him out.
Nehlen is an indefatigable candidate with a 100% positive attitude and the personal accomplishments (manages fortune 500)to back it up. He is an ideal candidate for Trump’s movement to MAGA.
If Nehlen is banned from speaking, it’s time for the Wisconsin Republicans to get rebuilt....MAGA...

The GOP is pretty much dead. Here in NH, they have given up soliciting from our household since I ripped them a new asshole about their betraying President Trump.
The GOPe has dropped all pretence of being conservative or doing the bidding of their constituents. They are just part of the DC UniParty.
I used to think Governor Scott Walker was some sort of “conservative” but if this is what the Wisconsin GOP is all about, it further confirms his fakery when the rubber meets the road.

I followed Nehlen last time. He appears to be the real deal. But he needs to drop the chopper ads and cover up the tats.
I live in the Milwaukee area. Paul Nehlen is no where near being the real deal and his record last time running and the build up to this one are the record of an attention seeker trying to make a couple of dollars off the process. Conservative radio...the radio personalities that helped get Wisconsin to go red again has documented Nehlen’s track record very clearly over these last set of years.
I am all for a legitimate MAGA conservative alternative running against Paul Ryan but Paul Nehlen is not that at all.
Others in this thread seems to be taking potshots at how he’s bucking the WI GOP “establishment” when the Republican Party of WI has been a how to success story turning a blue State Red over the last 7 years.
Not pleased with Ryan at all as Speaker right now but this insistence that Nehlen is some MAGA knight in shining armor is so far from the truth.

But he lost last time by 68%. Is he a realistic candidate this time, or merely a distraction on which we would waste money?

Well Paul Ryan is really starting to wear thin so maybe Nehlen has a shot next year.
He claims he had inadequate lead tine - 4 months - to campaign. This time he has more than a year and a clear message. We shall see.
Incompetence. He blew an historic opportunity.
