Well how special.
When is the NYC taxpayer supported parade to celebrate Swedish Americans? German Americans? Chinese Americans? African Americans? English Americans?
You get my drift.
50% of your examples already have parades.....
u r just drifting
It’s not a celebration of any ethnic group; it celebrates a man who was a pioneer in exploration of the Western Hemisphere.
At Ellis Island, there is a 3-dimensional bar graph that shows immigration through Ellis Island during the years that it was used for that. The different countries are different colors. The gigantic orange Italian column stretches maybe a full foot past the others, which are no more than an inch or two high. I myself didn’t realize this until I saw that.
People don’t realize how many of us there are, because we assimilate well and intermarry like crazy, usually to other Catholics.
The only group larger than us is the Irish. They have a bigger parade, with many coming from Ireland and spending money here. They are better Catholics (in a way) and tend to have bigger families.
The woman manager at the restaurant thought it was political on my part. I’m political, but she didn’t know that. She was just assuming. And that wasn’t why I rejected her restaurant. She never heard of Italian pride, because we usually shut up about it, unlike some other groups I can think of. But try taking the Columbus statue down and celebrating Indigenous Peoples’ Day, and you’ll suddenly know all about it.
they already support Chinese NY, PR Day, and Gay pride and Irish.
