He is certain he lost his home and everything in it. He also has a business in town (curios and hippy art etc.) which he is hoping to save.

Sad for him. I have a sister in Santa Rosa and another sister in Sonoma. Sister says waiting to hear if they have to evacuate. Sister's husband in Sonoma has a great deal of antiques in their home, no way to transport much of it if called to evacuate - some of the stuff is from 1700s. But lives are more important. By the way, they are staunch conservatives!

Yes, there are many staunch conservatives in California...it used to be Reagan Country :( Just like where I grew up in DuPage County, IL

Wow, shame about all the antiques...Hope they are one of the fortunate ones who has a house spared. This is so much like the flooding in the South...just cannot imagine what the people are going through...Both fire and floods are very scary!!!
