Even Stephen A. Smith (black leftist ESPN commentator) admits Trump has won in an article out today:
“In the end, what it really, really comes down to is the president has successfully hijacked this issue,” Smith said on “First Take,” explaining that the original purpose of the anthem protests - highlighting racial inequality and police brutality - has been lost. “He’s turned it into an issue about patriotism and beyond. He’s catering to his base in the process,” Smith said. “He is the one that’s winning because he’s turned this into something that the players didn’t intend to. So they’re going to have to find a different mechanism to make their voices heard, because Trump has won this round.”
Even if they stand and it’s a League rule you’ll have a couple not stand. MSM will make them out to be Rosa Parks and Ghandi rolled into one. More controversy. Protests about them not being able to protest. NAACP calling for a boycott and target sponsors.
The game is POLITICAL now. Once one idiot was allowed to do that and not be corrected immediately the cat is out of the bag.
Plus, some (myself included) know the players are standing because they’re being forced to and have moved on from watching the NFL. Will take years to recover from this PR disaster.
For decades Leftists tried to kill the NFL. They hated it. Flags, cheerleaders, competition, Red State sport. They figured out the weak link - the players. When they threatened to strike at Mizzou two years ago that set the template. Go after the players. Tell them not to be Uncle Tom sellouts and copt them to SJW purposes.
