If there's one issue that the Left/Democrats have failed on, it's the 2nd Amendment.

They cannot use the same trickery, the gradual implementation, obfuscation, the "moderatism" or becoming "New Democrats" on guns as they have for many other issues, like they call abortion "reproductive rights."

This is simply a losing issue for them, and Pfeiffer is writing this out of frustration. So his belief is that the Democrats should say the Hell with it and go deep. But doing so would only give the party a clean, quick death rather than a slow, agonizing one.

I actually love it, when Democrats reveal to the public what they really want to do. “[A] national gun registry, mandating ‘smart-gun technology,’ and rolling-out a buy-back program similar to Australia’s” are all losing propositions. If the Dems push that agenda between now and 2020, they will guarantee a second Trump term...

I think they can and would. The nightmare scenario would've been for Mrs. Bill Clinton to become president and the guy Obama nominated for the Supreme Court would now be sitting. Then Ruth Bader Ginsburg would retire and be replaced with a much younger far-left judge. Mrs. Bill Clinton might get 2-3 more Supreme Court judges and make it completely far-left. Then a case is filed and the Supreme Court rules that the 2nd Amendment is from a different era and is no longer valid...
