After the polarizing Obama presidency and the contested election of Donald Trump, The 2000 election was "contested", this one was not. Not in any serious manner anyway, the rats have lost the ability to accept a GOP win, a rat hasn't conceded on election night since Dukakis.

According to the RATs, there are only two possiblities in a President election: they win, or the election was "stolen" and the GOP president is "totally illegitimate"
To be fair though, I've seen numerous "Tea Party" groups behave the same way. They put up some crappy candidate who runs a terrible campaign and doesn't even come close to defeating a powerful GOP incumbent. Their reaction is to cry that the election was "rigged", rather than admit "hmmm, maybe we should have run a credible, likeable person and not some unqualified obnoxious blowhard"
