Much, much worse now than in 1968...not even remotely close.
There is a divide now that the nation has not seen since the first civil war. What is worse is the absolute delusional state of the peasant class democrats and the anger and hatred they see the with. Those are reminiscent of the early stages of Nazi’s and Communists where even families were torn apart.

1968 merely sowed the seeds which have since grown to what we have today.

Agree; Leftists have infiltrated all levels of government, armed forces and law enforcement. AND they have millions of illegal aliens, Jihadists, and GOPe types as allies.

That’s how I see it. There is technically less violence so far, compared to 1968, but the divide today reminds me more of the divide just before the Civil War. We’ve been in a “cold” civil war for at least 8 years. And it’s getting progressively worse.

but the fact remained that this was a predatory state which the Czar and a small group of noblemen and bureaucrats ruled for their own exclusive benefit. The ruling group owned all the wealth, enjoyed all the privileges and monopolized all the political power, and it did not intend to give up any of its prerogatives. It considered the peasants to be little better than animals ... The above is quoted from "The Russian Revolution" by Alan Moorehead 1958.
Sounds awfully damn familiar.
