CALLER: I’m doing great Rush. A comment about this media and Harvey Weinstein stuff. It’s really kind of unusual but not unpredictable that they’re heaping praise on all these women who were abused. They called them, the media says, “incredibly brave,” when in fact many sat on this story for 15 or 20 years and allowed the serial abuse — and other women to be abused — based on their silence. I can foresee a time maybe like at the Oscars where all these women will be called to the stage for a standing ovation. I’m not blaming them, but I’m just saying, “You’re not a hero. The heroes are the ones who are willing to sacrifice a role in a movie to stop abuse,” and there’s very, very few of those in Hollywood, unfortunately.
RUSH: Now, I have to say, this is a fascinating proposition. You’re making a point here. You’re not trying to vilify these women. You just don’t understand why in the world they’re being called brave when they all waited for somebody else to come forward. Right?
CALLER: Yes, Rush. Yes. Harvey Weinstein is destroyed after the first things came out. Once he was destroyed, there’s no bravery coming out. I mean, that’s piling on. I mean, I can see why they would do it, but the brave were the people that —
RUSH: Your comment really is not even aimed at the women. It’s at the people in the media and elsewhere who are attaching that label to them. Of course, they’ll accept it. They’ll take the label “brave” and run with it, and accept the fact that they were.
CALLER: Right.
RUSH: It’s a good point. It’s a good point. Where was the bravery? Where is the bravery? Where’s the bravery when it’s already out there and then there’s a bunch of piling on? Good. Good. I have believed for two decades that one of the biggest mistakes our country made was not holding the Clintons to account when we had the chance. The president, while not being perfect, was always a model, or a standard of behavior. We expected that they act legally, morally and ethically. If Clinton’s behaviors against women were okay, how can we now moralize against Weinstein. What’s the difference? Bill Clinton really sleazed this country up.
That is so true. I remember fighting with so called feminists regarding their support for billy bob - it was and still is so freakin’ pathetic.
I got to listen to Rush today and heard this segment, it was amusing. On the other hand, he spent most of the time talking about the NFL and sheesh, I honestly thought there were other important issues going on today.
