I'm a perfect example of this demographic fact, times two. Let me briefly explain. Once was in the corporate world, once in the military.
Was supposed to get promotional preference for being a "Vietnam era veteran." Was told by our corporate management that only minorities and women received the preferences. In the military, was forced to retire early to make room for; you guessed it - minorities and women. This really stung, because I was a decorated vet from the Gulf war and physically qualified.
Am I bitter? Just a little. I'm being a "man" about it!
