Shows how much the season has extended. In 1960, game 7 of the World Series was October 13th. This year, game 7 will be on November 1st, if the World Series goes the full 7 games.

The baseball playoffs go for an entire month nowadays. There are rumors that the wild card could go to a 2 out of 3 series, instead of a single game, and that the division series, which are now 3 out of 5, could go to a 4 out of 7 format. If that happens, that could easily add another week to the baseball playoffs.

I hate to see the playoffs expand any more, just due to the roll of the dice with weather this time of year.

You can’t always plan for California teams, or teams with domes/retractable roof stadiums, to be in the playoff hunt every year, to avoid bad weather.

I recall that game. I rushed home after school to listen to it on the radio. Maz crushed my dream :)

Personally I am rooting for a Minnesota-Colorado World Series played in a foot of snow.

The games were played during the daytime back then too.

MLB either needs to go back to a 154 game season, or add a lot of double headers, or both. Baseball isn’t a cold weather sport.

I remember the Mazeroski home run- had to cheer for the Pirates since the Yankees were like Goliath back then.
