I suppose it matters less at a state level if Gillespie does not firmly support President Trump. He will at least be conservative *enough* to turn back a lot of the damage done by McAuliffe.

Note: the Virginia House of Delegates is Republican by an almost 2/3rds majority. 66(R) to 34(D). But Republicans have just a slim majority in the senate. 21(R) to 19(D).

So a Republican governor will strongly help Virginia.

We have two Democrats running, one of them wearing an R jersey and pretending to be a Republican.
He’s pretending to be against illegal aliens, despite his previous desire to amnesty them all.

I’m a little late to this thread, but I have new information. My VA sources tell me that Gillespie has seen the MAGA light, and will support Trump/America’s agenda. It’s good news. He deserves FR support.
