Hitlery was the Establishment candidate, ordained by and for "The Establishment". Probably the most toxic Establishment denizen ever to run for office... Absolutely. I think Yeb! might have had her beaten in terms of toxicity had he (shudder) been nominated. Now there's a happy thought...
The irony is that she was desperately trying to have it both ways at once: a fiery outsider as a woman candidate breaking that glass ceiling, and the Most Qualified Candidate In History with Senatorial and Cabinet entries on her resume, however dreadful her actual performance was in those roles. She managed to blow both of them.
Yeah, I was also thinking about Mr. Yeb! while typing that - not only as designated loser but also the failsafe in case something catastrophic happened to Clinton - so no matter what, The Establishment still got their candidate. And it's totally accurate that Hillary was really her own worse enemy, burned and done in by her own hubris. And she continues to double down on it to this day.
