The mother of a soldier killed in an ambush in Africa said Wednesday that President Trump "did disrespect my son" with remarks in a condolence telephone call a day earlier.
Sgt. La David T. Johnson's mother, Cowanda Jones-Johnson, told The Post on Wednesday that she was present during the call from the White House on Tuesday to Johnson's widow, Myeshia Johnson. She stood by an account of the call from Rep. Frederica S. Wilson (D-Fla.) that Trump told Johnson's widow that her husband “must have known what he signed up for.”
"President Trump did disrespect my son and my daughter and also me and my husband," Jones-Johnson said in an exchange with the Post.
Trump denied Wilson's account in a Twitter message Wednesday. He said he had "proof" that the exchange did not go as Wilson had said. He did not elaborate, but the claim again raised questions about whether the president tapes calls and conversations.

Wilson had said that the Johnson family was “astonished” by that remark during the phone call, which Wilson said she heard via a speaker phone while riding in a car with the Johnson family.

If there is any truth to that, it’s probably something like Trump called him “David” instead of “La David”, but I’d say the mother should expect stuff like that if she names her children in such an unusual way.
Doesn’t your congresscritter take you for car rides? With the speaker phone on. Most of them do it all the time. They are just showing their affection for us all.

I made it perfectly clear to my family each and every time that I deployed, in the event that I was KIA, they were not to use my death as any kind of political statement. I knew what I was getting into when I raised my right hand. Knowing quite a few 18 series guys, I’m pretty sure they have had the same talk. It’s a shame that his honorable sacrifice is being used in this manner.

I was wondering why he was wearing an Airborne beret. Why would a Soldier assigned to a support battalion be on patrol with an ODA team? Granted, I’ve been out a while, but that’s not something that was common back in the day.

There’s nothing disrespectful about what Trump said......they just love to create stories to flame and sustain the fires of their deep seeded hatred that Hillary lost the election. Demorats will fuel anything to keep the fire of hatred flaming....that is who they are and what they do.

Just curious...did the Washington Post give this story more or less column space than the “Hillary colluding with Russia” story?
Its a WMD story, the D stands for distraction. For now it will rile up the public, and take the attention away from Hillary and the uranium. I grew up in Brooklyn, in my time if you volunteered to be a soldier you were labeled a Schmuck, because you took a job that could kill you. In my case 31 years of it got me through unscratched. Soldiers expect to be rained upon my mortars, and artillery with the chance they may become a casualty. They’re soldiers, its what they do. Our family lost a couple in WW II (USAAF), all we got was a telegram, no calls from the president. In this case, its not so much the call, it was a call from “Trump” who I am sure is not popular in their district. I’ll wait for the rest of the story, CNN always leaves that part out.
