I heard someone say that a former 2 term president can run for vice president, then become president again if the elected president resigns or dies in office.

It seems far fetched that you could run for VP after having been elected president twice.

Yes, a president can later be vice president, and he could succeed back to the presidency but only for two years (24 months).
