Representative Pat Tiberi of Ohio, a senior establishment lawmaker who was instrumental in pushing Obamacare repeal legislation, is expected to resign and take up an executive post with a business group in his home state.
Three GOP members who knew about the decision spoke to the New York Times, and cited frustration with the lack of progress on a promised agenda by Republican lawmakers, even though they have total control in Washington, with the newspaper saying it would signal “a deepening level of discontent among mainstream Republicans in Congress,” with an animus particularly directed at Trump.
What it signals though is a real worry at the coming electoral tide in the 2018 elections. Steve Bannon, former White House strategist, and editor of Breitbart news, has declared this a season of war on the GOP establishment for their legislative failures, but particularly the multiple failed attempts to repeal and replace Obamacare.
