If the Republicans are somehow able to get tax cuts through this will be BIG. I suspect the markets have already factored some of this into its calculus.

Also the converse is true — if they don’t get tax cuts I would expect some market slide and pushback.

Just enough swamp critters will be found to avoid meaningful action.

The Uniparty Rules.

The only difference between Democrats and Republicans is the lies they tell you before they steal your money and gain power over you.

They have to deliver this. If they don’t the market will retreat, maybe a lot, and their donors will be very unhappy. This one is a win win for the republican part of the swamp.

Zero Democrat votes means not bi-partisan. Mostly bi-parted down the middle. Hope we can say “bye” to more Democrats in 2018. Heck, we should just hope all the Democrats just die then we can have real prosperity.

This proposal calls for eliminating deductions that 44 million Americans claim (state and local tax deduction). That means this is a TAX INCREASE on the middle class so that corporations can get a massive rate cut! And corporations and businesses get to continue to claim the state and local tax deduction, but not individuals!

Screw the GOP and this bill!!!

I don't remember Donald Trump campaigning on raising my taxes.

That approval paves the way for their tax-cut proposal that would add up to $1.5 trillion to the federal deficit over the next decade to pay for the cuts.

Forehead slapping ignorant...

Gonna have to do a lot more explaining to convince me of the sweepingness of the tax plan. It seems to basically reduce rates by a couple of percent. And it has one self defeating feature. It takes yet more people of the tax rolls and converts them into solely tax consumers and their votes to freebie support. That was my quibble with Reagan’s tax reform. Better would be a true flat low tax on earned income and business. 9% with zero credits, deductions and exemptions would bring in more revenue and be less onerous and cost billions less to implement.

“Republicans are still hammering out their tax legislation after releasing an initial outline.”

Oh, like the Republicans “hammered out” repeal-and-replace to Obamacare from 2011 to 2016? I’m not holding my breath.

It is not a tax cut until we see an actual tax rate schedule with real numbers on it.

Do you know if this tax cut proposal is retroactive to January 2017, or delayed until next year, 2018? I have tried to track down the current date for enactment and no luck. There are some sources that are against 2017 for, what seems to me, bookkeeping and other inconveniences that would occur. I recall Pres Trump mentioning early on that he was including a retroactive date but it is now not mentioned in anything current that I have read. I think that a retroactive, Jan 2017, date should be touted as often as possible. People need help right now. If that is included in the tax bill it would motivate voters to push for it through their congress people.

Well if the middle class see a tax increase I can guarantee that Trump doesn’t win a second term.

After all, it's all the government's money, don'tcha know, and they are deigning to spend more of it on us for our own nasty, selfish selves.
