The Germans think they can partner with the muslims in order to accomplish their goal. It will not end well...for the Germans.

I have never trusted any German I have met in Canada. They all have the same pat story of “my father was a conscientious objector who opposed Hitler”. I call BS. The German people have never fully owned up to their Nazi past. They want to kill free speech as much to bury their own past as to defend another anti-Jewish culture - islam.
Seems to me, Spain had this problem several decades ago.
They came to their senses at the time and threw the mooselimb turds the hell out.
Germans are famous for lining up and doing what they are told.
Americans are famous for telling you to take you line and shove it.

A top priority here in the USA, if we were smart, would be to get rid of hate crime laws. Once you concede that hate crimes exists (and they do, but deal with that at sentencing) hate speech laws are not far behind.
The Germans have been a problem ever since the days of the Roman Republic. I thought we finally domesticated them after WW2. Apparently not, turns out Eisenhower was no MacArthur.

I don’t see her statement as the same as what Germany is doing/proposing. I read it as preventing or at least attempting to prevent the spread of extremist ideology on social media. How can that be compared to jailing someone who posted a picture of the Mufti with Hitler?
I think the sooner we accept this as their goal, the less time we will have to slam our heads into brick walls every day. It’s not a pleasant or welcome thought but aren’t we fooling ourselves that they haven’t achieved the upper hand? SOMEONE elected obozo to the office of the presidency - SOMEONE wanted to elect Hillary to the same position. Those someones have not gone away - they are still out there working to finish the job.

They somehow have the persistence, perseverance and time that the rest of us do not have. Wouldn’t take them long to assemble a new one out of the other EU countries’ forces. They’ve been adding the militaries of countries like the Netherlands and Czech Republic to the Bundeswehr of late. There’s also a central command structure in Brussels.
