NK will not resume six party talks without change in US policies

North Korea will not return to the six party talks unless issues with the US are resolved, a high level North Korean diplomat said Saturday.

According to reports citing participants of the Moscow Nonproliferation Conference, North Korean Foreign Ministry’s Director General of North America Affairs Choi Sun-hee said that Pyongyang will not return to six party talks, and that the country will only negotiate with the US.

“Suggestions from various countries are welcome, but as the US is the country that is trying to pressure and to bring about the collapse of North Korea, the issue must be resolved with the US,” Choi was quoted as saying.

This may be a reference to the P5+1 talks.

In 2006, Iran started talks with P5+1 group.

In that case, it was five permanent UN Security Members plus Iran.

So this would be the five permanent UN Security Members plus North Korea.
