The Democratic National Committee gathered here over the past week with one worry on every activist’s mind: We’d better not lose the Virginia governor’s race.
It’s a surprising case of the jitters over a place that hasn’t elected a Republican to statewide office in eight years — and that voted resoundingly against Donald Trump last year. But nationally, Democrats haven’t won a marquee race since losing the presidency. They lag Republicans in fundraising. A loss for Lt. Gov. Ralph Northam against Republican Ed Gillespie on Nov. 7 could stir doubts about message and strategy just as the party is gearing up nationally for next year’s all-important midterm elections.
“We’re Ground Zero,” Susan Swecker, chairwoman of the Democratic Party of Virginia, said inside the Bally’s casino here, where party leaders and activists from all 57 states and territories gathered over the past few days. “All eyes are on us. I can understand that, because last year broke my heart.”
If losing is going to mean that much to them, I guess I will have to buck up and hold my nose for Amnesty Ed.

This election will determine whether the ‘RATS or Republicans control redistricting in Virginia following the 2020 census. It will also determine how Virginia cooperates with ICE (or obstructs ICE) in the identification and deportation of illegal aliens. Also the extent of fraudulent voting in the state will be determined by this election’s outcome.
The ads being run on WMAL by the 2 gubernatorial candidates are directly factually contradictory. What is the truth? How does a VMI leading “rat” fit into today’s leftist Democrat party?
I don’t expect much cooperation with ICE from Amnesty Ed.
He still wants amnesty for most illegal aliens.
Nor do I expect him to do anything about vote fraud.
Redistricting is done by the House of Delegates, strongly Republican.
I said I’d hold my nose and vote for him, I don’t have to like it.
He is a Bush league cheap labor importer, among the very group responsible for the sorry state of Virginia.
This state was still English speaking and low crime before the George W. Bush administration of which Gillespie played a role.
Not sure what you mean. There are in fact 57 States + Territories. 50 States + 7 territories. What's wrong with that?

They are attempting to suggest that this is what he meant when he slipped and used 57 when it is more likely that the number 57 was stuck in his head because there are 57 members of the OIC, Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

Who cares. Gillespie is a GOP establishment hack. And the VA Governor only serves one four-year term. How the Hell can you get something done in just four years?
So the reason to vote for amnesty Ed is to protect the gop in redistricting.....because the gop in VA has done so much good with the advantages they’ve been handed to date?

Well FRiend, most Virginians who follow politics are having trouble drawing distinctions between these uniparty twits.
Maybe the 7 territories that keep being included by rat talk are being entitlement entitled vote weighed in given the Democrat’s twisted perspective on what is voter fraud . Virginia’s 2016 presidential election fell to hillary late with democrat districts saving the day for her. Suit cases of ballots found in trunks of cars sounded fishy in 2000 too. Trump’s team needs to tackle voter fraud hard.
The one four year term and you are out rule is the best thing the founders of Virginia bequeathed us.
Little of the corruption in other places like Arkansas.
At least make it a 6-year single term. 4 years is too short in politics.
The Virginia polls usually give democrat candidates eight points more than they actually have. So if the poll shows the races within a point or two, that means the Republican as well ahead.
